Stephen H. Jones is a sociologist whose research covers themes including equality and discrimination, governance and political participation, religion in public life and the public understanding of science. He specialises in the study of Muslims in the UK and their treatment by British society and the state, with his research in this area encompassing Islamic organisations and movements, governance and securitisation, and Islamophobia. He is a Senior Lecturer in Criminology and Sociology at the School of Social Science at Keele University, having previously been a Lecturer and then Associate Professor in the Department of Social Policy, Sociology and Criminology, University of Birmingham, and research staff at Newman University and the University of Bristol.
